The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasises the importance of regular physical activity and reducing sedentary behaviour for promoting health and well-being. Engaging in physical exercise helps prevent and manage cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer, while also reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression and improving cognitive function.

The WHO recommends that everyone, regardless of age or physical condition, incorporate more active habits into their daily lives. Any amount of physical activity is better than none, and increasing movement levels has significant health benefits.

Key Messages

  • Physical Activity is Beneficial for the Heart, Body, and Mind
  • Any Amount of Movement is Positive – and the More, the Better
  • Sedentary Behaviour Should Be Reduced
  • Muscle Strengthening Should Be Part of the Routine at All Ages
  • Everyone Can Benefit from Adopting a More Active Lifestyle
