Students applied financial market knowledge in a national competition and achieved outstanding results
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
The 3rd-year cohort of the Bachelor’s Degree in Management at Lusófona University - Porto University Centre achieved outstanding national-level performance in the Euronext Trading Game. The initiative was developed within the scope of the course Financial Markets and Instruments, taught by Professor César Ferreira.
Using the fintech educational platform NextWise, students managed virtual portfolios with fictitious capital. The experience enabled them to apply, in a practical and competitive environment, complex concepts such as portfolio diversification, market analysis and risk management in response to economic and geopolitical factors.
The students’ commitment resulted in excellent competition rankings:
- Several groups from the class achieved strong national results, with one team reaching 1st place in the March ranking and later securing 3rd place in the final national ranking.
- Two other groups also achieved outstanding positions at the end of the competition, reaching 4th and 5th place in the final national ranking, respectively.
- Additionally, another team from the faculty obtained a notable position in the monthly competition ranking.
This project is a clear example of the commitment to linking theory with real market contexts, promoting financial literacy and equipping future managers with critical thinking and strong analytical skills.
