The seminar “Young Athlete: Where Are You, Where Are You Going, and Where Do You Want to Arrive?” took place on 16 March 2026, from 09:00 to 17:00, at the Agostinho da Silva Auditorium, Lusófona University – Lisbon University Centre.
Organized by FEFD, the event was held in person and brought together coaches, researchers, and athletes to discuss the development of young athletes in the context of athletics.
The seminar aimed to provide an integrated understanding of sports development, considering biological, motor, psychological, and contextual factors.
Sessions explored strategies for interpreting growth and performance trajectories, supporting talent identification and development processes, and adapting training to different stages of athlete development.
Experts such as Jorge Vieira, José Maia, João Valente dos Santos, Cláudia Dias, Paulo Cunha, Teresa Ribeiro, Rui Norte, João Abrantes, and Pedro Pinto delivered presentations. Roundtable discussions included Patrícia Mamona, Patrícia Silva, Anabela Leite, and Celestino Semedo, sharing experiences on training, performance, and retention of young athletes in sport.
