ULusófona participates in new innovative project in cancer diagnosis
DeepTechLab, a technology laboratory integrated into ULusófona, is involved in a new innovation project in cancer diagnosis, HSAFE.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
The DeepTechLab, located at Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre, is currently part of the international consortium of the project HSAFE (Innovative High-Sensitivity Avalanche Field-Effect Transistors Designed for Cancer Diagnosis). This is a project funded by the European Commission’s Research Executive Agency (REA) and coordinated by Bursa Uludağ University (Turkey).
This initiative marks the beginning of a collaborative journey towards cutting-edge innovation in cancer diagnosis. By leveraging advanced nanotechnology and international expertise, HSAFE aims to push the boundaries of biomedical engineering and generate tangible benefits for society.
The project’s objective is to develop next-generation biosensors, with ultra-high sensitivity, capable of identifying and detecting lung and lymphoma cancer cells at an early stage of development. These devices, based on avalanche field-effect transistor (FET) arrays and novel 2D materials, are designed to enable faster, more accurate, and cost-effective detection. Beyond the technological advancement in sensors, this innovation seeks to contribute to the future of precision medicine, improving diagnosis and clinical outcomes for patients.
The project’s kick-off meeting, held within the framework of the international conference ODAE – "Open Dialog in Applied Engineering 2025", took place in Ölüdeniz, Turkey, on 5 September.
