    The course in Psychology of Justice: Victims of crime follows the bachelor¿s in psychology. The main objective is training students on advanced skills of observation, evaluation and psychological intervention in the Psychology of Justice, specifically, with victims, offenders and groups at risk. Also, it intends to provide students with knowledge and skills for the development of innovative research in this scientific domain. Also, we aim to help students in the development of their future professional identity, promoting their ethical reasoning and openness to implement practices of collaboration in the context of a multidisciplinary work.
  • Admission Conditions

    Admission Conditions

    The following may apply for the Master's Degree: a) holders of a bachelor's degree or legal equivalent; b) holders of a foreign academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna process by a State adhering to that process; c) holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as satisfying the objectives of the degree of licensed by the statutory competent body; d) holders of a school, scientific or professional curriculum, which is recognized by the statutory competent body of the ULP as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies. Ranking criteria: a) Classification of bachelor's degree or legal equivalent or foreign academic degree - 70% b) Complementary training/extracurricular activities - 10% c) Professional curriculum/scientific production - 10% d) Motivation letter and, if appropriate, interview - 10%
  • Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired

    Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired

    a) Identify the state of the art of themes in this field; b) Critically select methods, techniques and instruments for psychological assessment of victims (adults and children) and offenders (adults and young people) in this field; c) Plan and implement psychological assessment protocols, in justice/forensic contexts, mostly of victims and offenders, and write the respective reports; d) Recognize different conceptual models, modalities and strategies of psychological intervention, as well as plan and implement intervention plans within the scope of specific problems, both with victims and with offenders; e) Plan, implement and evaluate crime and victimization prevention programs; f) Demonstrate skills of working in a multidisciplinary team; g) Develop original empirical studies, adopting the most appropriate research methods; h) Respect the ethical principles in the activities of evaluation, prevention, intervention and research in this field.

    Career Opportunities

    Enables registration in the Portuguese Psychologists Order (OPP), which is mandatory for being psychologist, after the completion of a professional internship under the supervision of the OPP.

    Psychology Laboratory Testoteca Psychology Service of the ULP (SPULP) In addition to the physical and technology resources, the Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport provides a set of resources aimed at promoting academic success and integral development of students. Noteworthy are the Tutoring and Counseling Project (¿Tutorias @ SPULP¿), the Pedagogical Practices Project (aimed at producing standard practices and tools of pedagogical support for teachers and students), the Starting a Research Project (through integration of 1st year students in ongoing research projects) and coordination with the university's pedagogical projects, which include regular initiatives for students' extracurricular training and promotion of exchange and internationalization, such as Erasmus program.
