“Hello, I’m Filipa Velez, I’m 18 years old and I enrolled with an entry grade of 18.5. I chose Lusófona University exactly because it is a pioneer in Criminology in the Lisbon district, and so it was always my choice to stay here and not have to go to Porto or Minho. We have excellent lecturers, very renowned in our field.

I can't say that Criminology has been a dream since childhood; I chose it more as a multidisciplinary science and I believe it will open many doors for me, as it involves areas such as psychology, law, sociology, and anthropology. So, I’ll always have a wide range of options to choose from, and it all started when I had to decide to go into Humanities in secondary school.

In practical terms, my study method has always involved writing summaries, taking lots of notes in class – paying attention in class has always been essential to absorb most of the information and reduce the amount of study needed at home. And, of course, doing lots of exercises.

Regarding the course, I believe it will give me very broad knowledge and make me a well-rounded professional. As for my professional future, at the moment I’m thinking of working in the field of prevention and intervention in juvenile delinquency, but I believe my opinion may change along the way.”
