My name is Jéssica Sousa, I am 23 years old and I studied Tourism, the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism here at Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre, and I am currently working in a hotel as a receptionist.

I really like the Tourism field, I think it is a very interesting area, and Tourism is very broad. I still wasn’t completely sure about what I specifically wanted to do, so I chose a broad field that would give me time to decide something more specific in the future. I was able to do an international internship, in China, in a hotel in the Chinese capital, and it was very interesting.

I learned not only technical work-related skills but also grew a lot as a person, on a personal level. This opportunity came through a placement module. In that internship module, some professionals from the Tourism sector were invited, one of them Mr Pedro da Costa Ferreira, who invited me to attend the PAFT Congress in Macau.

This gentleman is the former president, and it was a very interesting congress. Many important current topics were discussed, such as politics, the new Lisbon airport, artificial intelligence and its future, and so on. It was very enriching. My future plans are to keep growing, acquire as much knowledge as possible, and go as far as I can in my field, aiming to become a manager or director. That is my ambition, and I am working towards it.
