Apresentação

The Faculty of Economic, Social and Business Sciences (FCESE) covers the economic, social and management areas, guided by the common and transversal objective of training highly qualified professionals, endowed with critical thinking and creativity, who will allow them to solve problems, in an informed, strategic and sustainable way.

Thus, FCESE assumes sustainability, interdisciplinarity, adaptability, diversity and multiculturalism as the basic values of its activity. FCESE adds value to the academic experiences of its students, actively and intentionally promoting their relational capital and their strategic career management.

FCESE assumes an innovative and differentiating academic model, which abandons teaching centered solely on knowledge, in favor of learning centered on competences, in which the student must demonstrate his acquisition through effective exercise and not through repetition. Pedagogical techniques that involve the use of gamification, simulation and collaborative learning contribute to a training experience based on the objective of promoting active learning, in which the student integrates theoretical knowledge into their effective practice, through the growing mastery of tools that provide them with real, current and relevant skills for their employability and professional and social training. Professional immersion seeks to bridge the gap between academia and the job market, aiming at more fruitful learning and faster integration of students into the professional environment. On the other hand, the contact with students and teachers of different nationalities, with the consequent exchange of experiences and experiences, contribute to a multicultural perspective in different areas of knowledge and in the exercise of citizenship.

FCESE's mission is, therefore, to train citizens and professionals for a global world, through a differentiating academic model, providing its students with learning based on scientific research and guided by ethical principles and social responsibility. It is also intended to promote an active citizenship throughout the academic community that encourages sustainable economic, environmental and social development.

Community Connection Projects

INTREPID LAB: Innovation to Society

Functioning as a Transfer of Scientific Services and Consultancy unit, it intends to act as a mediator and promoter of the connection between the University and non-academic institutions.

Focusing its skills on economic, social and management areas, INTREPID LAB intends to offer:

  • Scientific consultancy services;
  • Research-based solutions for the business world in particular, and society in general;
  • Opportunities for cooperation partnerships with entities in the commercial, industrial, artistic and cultural sectors;
  • Specialized support in the creation of spin-off companies;
  • Collaboration opportunities with national and international entities and networks.

INTREPID LAB also intends to promote the professional immersion of students, through its role as a hinge between the academy and the labor market, aiming at a more fruitful learning and a faster integration of students in the professional environment. A close connection with the community makes it possible for this pillar to materialize in the generation of learning opportunities based on real problems and projects presented by companies and supported by teaching methods and techniques that enable the learning of concepts, reflection, exercise and the feedback. On the other hand, it is intended to have students as active elements of the research and external consultancy teams, aiming to provide them with a short-term professional experience, which aims to cement, implement and integrate the theoretical knowledge learned throughout the cycle of studies.

By fostering an active interaction between the University and the Community, INTREPID LAB aims to develop sustainable collaborative dynamics, actively and intentionally contributing to create value in favor of not only institutional development, but also local, regional and national development.
