Obeying the principles of the Bologna Agreement, the Master¿s degree ¿Social Service and Social Policy¿ intends to consolidate the basic training acquired in the Degree in Social Services and provide a wider professional qualification in the field of Social Services and its articulation with Social Policies. This degree responds to the growing demands of linking training with political foundations in the approach to the issues of social inequality and social inclusion of vulnerable groups. It equally constitutes a privileged space to rethink social intervention in its theoretical-methodological and ethic-political fundaments.
The master¿s in ¿Social Service and Social Policies¿ aims to:

Investigate the relation and articulation of Social Service with Social Policies;
Articulate knowledge of the Social Service area with the area of social science;
Reflect on ethical and deontological issues related with investigation and intervention;
Communicate and debate social problems with other specialists, putting focus on the Social Service approach perspective.

Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired

The competences of the Social Workers are at the level of theoretical knowledge and its operation in professional contexts in the domain of social policies and the communicative skills required in a professional environment.
The master's degree should contribute enabling the professional to:
Learn new ways of approaching social problems, in permanent update;
Develop research that allows better knowledge of the study and intervention subject;
Motivate him(her)self with autonomy, in the selection of training to acquire throughout life, in differentiated spaces of the national and international territory.

Further Studies

Specialisation and post-graduation programs, including 3rd cycle programs referring to PhD studies.

Career
