Lusófona University hosted, on 21 January 2026, the seminar “Cultural Game Jams and Pedagogical Innovation in Higher Education”, a face-to-face initiative aimed at lecturers and focused on the experimentation of innovative, participatory and culturally situated pedagogical methodologies.

The event included a practical workshop and a structured peer discussion session, promoting critical reflection and the pedagogical transfer of the Cultural Game Jams model and the Quadruple Helix innovation ecosystem to different Higher Education contexts. The initiative was based on the experience of the EPIC-WE project and on a Design-Based Research intervention developed at the Óbidos-HUB, resulting from the collaboration between the Óbidos City Council, Lusófona University and the company BattleSheep.

The first part featured an intervention by Conceição Costa, who presented the theoretical model of Cultural Game Jams and the functioning of the Quadruple Helix collaborative ecosystem. This was followed by an ideation session led by Wilson Almeida, where participants developed Game Jam proposals applied to their institutional contexts.

The final peer discussion session, moderated by André Rui Graça and Rita Grácio, made it possible to frame the prototypes developed within the scope of pedagogical innovation, debating challenges, possibilities for application and impacts on lecturers’ professional development.

The seminar was promoted with the support of CECAM – Centre of Excellence for Pedagogical Innovation in Cinema and Media Arts and several associated institutions, reinforcing Lusófona University’s commitment to pedagogical innovation and interinstitutional collaboration in Higher Education.
