On 25 March, visual artist Francisca Carvalho was the guest of the 3rd edition of *Great Artists on Campus*, a conference series organised by the Department of Cinema and Media Arts (DCAM) at Lusófona University. The event was attended by students and lecturers, who followed the artist’s sharing of her journey and the way she intertwines philosophy and visual arts in her work.
Through collages, drawings, and fabrics, Francisca Carvalho has developed a unique language, where symbols and traditional techniques are interwoven. Her work has been exhibited in various exhibitions, both in Portugal and abroad, including Brazil, India, and the United States. Her interest in artisanal processes took her to India to study *kalamkari* and hand block printing. During the talk, she discussed the importance of preserving these practices and how philosophical thinking influences her artistic approach.
The event provided a moment of dialogue and exchange of ideas between the artist and the students, reinforcing the importance of art as a tool for learning and innovation.
