Great Artists on Campus #5 Welcomed Miguel Marquês
Portuguese photographer presented work focused on urban daily life and the subtle narratives of contemporary living

The Great Artists on Campus #5 session, dedicated to photographer Miguel Marquês, took place on 10 March 2026, between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm, at Cinema Fernando Lopes, at Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre. The event was part of the cycle promoted by CECAM, ECATI and FilmEU, bringing together students and those interested in photography and visual arts.
During the conference, Miguel Marquês presented his artistic trajectory and reflected on photographic practice centred on observing urban daily life. The artist highlighted recent projects, including Walking Thru the Sleepy City, an exhibition presented at Museu de Serralves, resulting from a period of residency and work in Chisinau, Moldova.
The session also addressed the recognition achieved with the Novo Banco Revelação Photography Award (2024), as well as the presence of his work in relevant exhibitions and collections. The discussion provided participants with a reflection on the poetic potential of ordinary moments and on new approaches to contemporary photography.
