Lusófona University Leads Nominations for the Sophia Student Awards 2025
Lusófona Filmes continues to stand out in several categories, showcasing the talent and excellence of its students

The Sophia Awards, presented annually by thePortuguese Film Academy, are the foremost recognition of national cinema in Portugal. These awards aim to highlight the best national cinematographic production, honouring the poet Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, whose name symbolises "wisdom".
Lusófona University has established itself as an undeniable reference in the teaching of cinema and audiovisual production in the country, consistently leading in nominations and awards. In 2024, it reaffirmed its position as the highest-ranked institution in the competition of the ICA – Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual for funding film and audiovisual schools.
This year, at the Sophia Student Awards 2025, Lusófona Filmes stands out once again with 10 nominations, spread across various categories, once again showcasing the talent and excellence of its students.
