The Master Program in Film and Audiovisual Heritage offers a unique educational program in Portugal designed to develop knowledge and skills in the field of Film and Audiovisual Heritage. It is tailored for students holding bachelor degrees in various fields, including Communication Sciences, Film and Audiovisual Media, Archival Management, Museology, or related disciplines, enabling the expansion of knowledge from an integrated and interdisciplinary perspective, using diverse approaches and the most recent methodologies. Students will acquire conceptual and practical skills that they can apply in various sectors of the professional market in the field of film and audiovisual heritage.
The Department of Cinema and Media Arts (DCAM) has established a partnership with the National Archive of Moving Images (ANIM) for the preservation of the Pontes Collection, a film archive comprising over 400 items in various formats (nitrate, acetate, 16mm, 35mm) and states of preservation.
The collection has made it possible to incorporate an invaluable practical component into the curriculum of the master program in Film and Audiovisual Heritage, whose students have already begun the inventory process in a technical room set up for this purpose, under the supervision of faculty and staff at ANIM. Coordination between DCAM and ANIM is handled by Inês Gil and Jacopo Wassermann, who serve as donors of the collection to Lusófona University and as the institutions representatives to ANIM.
