On 26 March, the workshop “Fractall – Artificial Intelligence in the Management of Athletes’ Health and Well-being” took place, promoted by the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education (FDEF) of Lusófona University.

The workshop focused on the use of digital platforms and artificial intelligence in monitoring and optimising athletes’ health and performance. During the session, participants were invited to explore the potential of the Fractall platform, with an emphasis on practical applications in training control, recovery, injury risk assessment and performance analysis across various sports.

Key concepts were discussed, such as integrated athlete health management and the use of technology for more informed and personalised decision-making. One of the central moments of the workshop involved a critical reflection on the role of AI in sport, raising the question: “Is the use of AI a powerful ally or a potential enemy?”

The Co-Founder of the application, Guy Sauce, highlighted the role of technology in supporting strength and conditioning coaches, noting that the aim was to “demonstrate how technology can help” in their daily work. A practical component was also included, in which students used the Fractall platform alongside Excel, allowing for a direct comparison between analysis methods and reinforcing the usefulness of these solutions in a professional context.

In an interactive format, participants had the opportunity to experience the platform first-hand, applying their knowledge to real cases of analysis and management of athletes’ well-being, fostering dialogue between science, technology and professional practice.

The event provided a space for practical learning for students interested in monitoring, training control and injury prevention, enabling them to apply advanced digital tools in real work contexts.
