Workshop teaches how to adapt your CV to the Portuguese labour market
Initiative to promote the professional inclusion of migrants with practical guidelines for creating effective CVs in line with Portugal's requirements
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
On 22 April, Lusófona University – Porto University Centre hosted the workshop “How can I adapt my CV to work in Portugal?”, a joint initiative by the Local Support Centre for the Integration of Migrants (CLAIM) and EVA (Internships and Active Life).
The session was divided into two parts: the first aimed at the Portuguese-speaking community and the second at the English-speaking community. This approach allowed for more effective and personalised communication, making the content accessible to a diverse and multicultural audience.
The workshop featured contributions from Verónica Almeida, Tânia Leite, and Winta Baptista, from EVA, and Concha Tello, representing CLAIM. Promotion of the initiative among migrant associations was also coordinated by CLAIM, reinforcing its commitment to promoting professional inclusion.
The main aim of the event was to empower migrants to create more effective CVs tailored to the demands of the Portuguese job market. Through practical guidance, participants learned how to strategically highlight their skills and experiences.
During the session, the importance of a well-structured Curriculum Vitae was also emphasised, as without this document, gaining access to job interviews becomes virtually impossible. It became clear that a well-prepared CV is essential for increasing one’s chances of integrating into the labour market and finding opportunities aligned with each candidate’s profile.
At the close of the workshop, the speakers shared a message of encouragement, highlighting that, despite the challenges, most migrants do eventually manage to find work in Portugal.
