EP2 – Let’s SPIC About… Mentoring w/ Paula Paulino and Helia Bracons
In the latest episode of the podcast “Let's SPIC About…”, the central theme is mentoring and the impact of this practice on academic life. To discuss the topic, the episode features Paula Paulino, lecturer in the Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, and Hélia Bracons, coordinator of the Social Services Mentoring Programme. Joining the conversation are also four mentors, who were once mentees, sharing their experiences and insights.
The mentoring programme is an initiative that allows mentors – whether alumni, more experienced students, or even lecturers – to support and guide mentees in their academic and personal journey. Key characteristics of a mentor include active listening, empathy, emotional intelligence, creativity, trust-building, and availability.
This episode invites listeners to reflect on the transformative role of mentoring and how this practice can contribute to the success and well-being of students.
