What will I learn in this course?
The degree of Electrical Engineering of Power Systems aims training highly skilled electrical power engineers who have expertise ranging from electrical systems design to management and control of power systems, including the fields of power generation, transmission, distribution and utilization, as well as the energy conversion systems based on power electronic converter technologies. Throughout the programme, the students will gain the fundamental understanding in electrical energy and power systems. In addition, they will develop other skills concerning the development, operation, maintenance, commissioning and technical assistance of sales departments for electrical energy and power systems. Thus, this graduation lays the groundwork for the pursuit of an advanced degree or provides the opportunity for career advancement. After graduation the students are able to perform a set of activities, within the framework of electrical engineering and power systems domain, as follows: ¿ Provision of technical support for sales and innovative management approaches; ¿ Maintenance of electrical facilities, systems and devices; ¿ Design of low voltage electrical networks; ¿ Design and development of electrical devices and systems; ¿ Commissioning of electrical devices and facilities; ¿ Steady state analysis and simulation of transmission and distribution networks with integration of distributed generation; ¿ Understanding the operation of energy markets with integration of distributed generation; ¿ Energy management and efficiency. The Electrical Engineering of Power System graduation is included in the FEANI INDEX. Also it is registered in the Portuguese Order of Technical Engineers, enabling also the admission to other professional orders.

Technical and professional skills that I will acquire
Electrical Engineering and Energy Systems aims to provide students with a set of skills acquired in the field of action of Electrical Power Systems. In this sense, it is aimed to prepare professionals to possess: A solid and consistent vision of the principles and technologies in the field of Electrical Systems and Power Systems knowledge of the use of domestic and industrial power, with diagnostic capability of its operation, monitoring and carrying out operations necessary for their maintenance, including optimizing the energy efficiency of them. Design capabilities, including low voltage installations. Capacity analysis and simulation of ESS. Ability to understand the functioning of electrical energy, including renewable energy, and know the rules to which it obeys. Ability to carry out independent studies and research and development projects. Developing capacity for practical application of knowledge in finding solutions to new problems.
