This option is available for master’s and doctoral programmes worth 90 ECTS credits or more.

Tuition fees are calculated according to the number of ECTS credits in which you enrol.

    What will I learn in this course?

    The digitisation of society and the integration of ICT in education require IT teachers who are prepared for the challenges of the 21st century. This study cycle (CE), based on Decree-Law No. 79/2014 and Decree-Law No. 9-A/2025, qualifies for group 550, in line with the National Strategy for Digital Education and the European DigCompEdu Framework. The study plan integrates emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, computational thinking and digital citizenship, combining solid theoretical training with supervised teaching practice. Taught on a part-time basis, the CE allows for the reconciliation of advanced training and professional activity, promoting the updating and retraining of ICT teachers and professionals, reinforcing digital inclusion and educational innovation.

    Entry requirements and conditions

    Under the terms of Decree-Law No. 9-A/2025, of 14 February, candidates who cumulatively meet the following requirements may apply for the master's degree programme in Computer Science Education: 1) Hold a higher education qualification, namely a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or a foreign degree recognised as equivalent (Article 18(4)(a)); 2) Have obtained, in their previous academic career, a minimum of 120 ECTS in the field of Computer Science, as provided for in the annex to DL 79/2014, in the wording of DL No. 9-A/2025 (speciality No. 27); 3) Demonstrate oral and written proficiency in Portuguese and logical and critical reasoning skills, assessed by UL using its own methodology (Article 17(1) and (2)); 4) Individuals with at least 75% of the required credits, with the remainder to be obtained during the CE, according to a plan defined by the University (Article 18, paragraphs 7 and 8). Os candidatos que passarem num teste escrito que demonstre proficiência oral e escrita em português, bem como capacidades de raciocínio lógico e crítico, são então classificados. Os candidatos são classificados em cada fase do processo de admissão de acordo com a média aritmética, arredondada para o número inteiro mais próximo, das pontuações obtidas em a) o seu diploma (convertido para uma escala de 0 a 200) e b) a avaliação do seu currículo (numa escala de 0 a 200). A avaliação do currículo centra-se em: i) experiência profissional no ensino e/ou formação (ponderada em 40%) ii) cursos de formação obtidos para além do diploma, nomeadamente cursos de pós-graduação e outros cursos na área da Ciência da Computação ou na área da educação e formação (ponderados com 30%) iii) participação em projetos de investigação e/ou intervenção, nomeadamente no contexto de atividades de ensino na área da Ciência da Computação (ponderados com 30%).
