José Leite
Bachelor in Computer Engineering
My name is José Leite, I'm a Computer Engineering student at Lusófona University and I had an average of 18. Initially, the faculty called me to tell me that I was entitled to a merit scholarship, but I only found out that I had the best average in the faculty when you sent me the email.
I faced a few challenges, but the main one was my consistency and concentration. One way I got around this was to split up my studies. I studied for an hour in the morning, an hour in the afternoon and an hour in the evening, totaling three hours a day. One tip I can give you is: understand your needs as a student and build a study routine around that. I chose Lusófona because it is one of the universities that I believe has the best curriculum for my Computer Engineering degree. In addition, here I have many more opportunities, such as internships, extracurricular activities and other things like that.
My expectations of the course are quite high. Coming from a vocational course, I already have a solid grounding in the area, and even so, when I arrived in the first year, I imagined that I would only learn things I already knew. However, I'm learning a lot of new things and I believe that this will continue throughout the course. I believe I will have a good transition from the degree to the job market, as the college offers various opportunities for internships, project development, research and other activities.
For example, I'm currently a monitor at Deisi-Hub, which has added a lot to my CV. This is one of the opportunities the college gives us to ensure a smoother transition into the job market.
