When I first started thinking about going to university, I didn’t attend the Open Days. At the time, I wasn’t quite sure how they worked, and only later did I realise it could have been a great opportunity to get to know the environment better and clear up my doubts from the start. So, I really think that for anyone considering applying, it’s worth taking advantage of that opportunity — it helps you understand how everything works and make decisions with more confidence.
My first day of classes was full of emotions. On the one hand, I was really excited to start a new chapter, but at the same time I felt that nervousness that comes with not knowing exactly what to expect. I remember walking into the university and feeling that different atmosphere — bigger, more serious, and at the same time full of possibilities. I had lots of doubts and questions, but there was also that great feeling of finally being there and beginning to build my own path.
At first, I must admit it wasn’t always easy to understand how everything worked — the services, SIGA, the administrative office. I had questions and didn’t always find answers straight away, but I learned, and with time I began to understand how things functioned. I think we all go through that a little bit in the beginning.
Fortunately, it wasn’t all about that. There were also moments that really helped during this first phase, and the welcome activities were a great example. They were light-hearted, fun moments that, above all, made me feel more comfortable.
They gave me the opportunity to meet other students, to integrate, and to realise that I wasn’t alone in the process. That made all the difference. Today, when I look back, I can see how much I’ve grown since that first day.
That’s what university is all about — a space for discovery, challenges, and personal growth. And every experience, even the difficult ones at the start, ends up being an important part of that journey.
