Presentation

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Universidade Lusófona aims to develop Veterinary Medicine, in general, and the resulting professional activities. FMV-ULHT is responsible for Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine in full operation since 2004 (Portaria nº 1107/2004, 7 September) and adapted to Bologna in 2007.

Since 2014, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias has conferred the Degree in Basic Veterinary Sciences and a 2nd cycle in a total of 330 ECTS that confers the degree of Master in Veterinary Medicine.

The Faculty has its own faculty with an appropriate degree and enriched by the participation of invited professors, PhDs and graduates, from Veterinary Medicine teaching entities of international importance. FMV-ULHT has an Ethics Committee that requires and values ethics and animal welfare in the use of animals in teaching and research activities.

FMV-ULHT offers innovative curricula, with a high practical component in which students are exposed to the reality of the veterinary medical profession, allowing them to achieve a good level of professional and scientific differentiation with a high level of satisfaction with the study cycle and a high level of employability.

The strong motivation of students who chose the course as their first option is also reflected in the motivation of lifelong learning, transmitted and reinforced by the Faculty's strategy, which strongly invests in the continuous training of the Veterinary Medical Profession, through the offer of Postgraduate - Graduations of excellence with the participation of recognized national and international professors and experts.

Research Units

The FMV-ULHT, within the scope of its Research Center in Veterinary Sciences, develops research oriented towards the different areas of investigation of the veterinary sciences, and several research projects are ongoing, some financed by public and private entities. Some of these projects are also developed in collaboration with other research centers within the walls and others external to the University, in both situations entities of high scientific merit.

Community Linked projects

  • Laboratório de Análises Clínicas e Histopatológia (LACH)
    LACH, in operation since September 2011, provides high quality diagnostic options to the FMV-ULHT teaching hospital and the Veterinary Community in general. It performs exams in the areas of clinical analysis and histopathology and offers the services of Hematology, Clinical Biochemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology (bacteriology and mycology), Parasitology, Immunology/Serology, Molecular Biology, Diagnostic Cytology, Histopathology, Toxicology, Forensic Medicine.
  • Community Service
    Medical-surgical support while safeguarding animal health, within the scope of the practical classes of the Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine to institutions, animal support and protection associations and municipal councils under the protocols carried out with the FMV-ULHT.
