21.10.25 - 10h24After a run of over a hundred international festivals and a warm reception from the public, The Old Man and the Sword, directed by Fábio Powers, finally arrives in Portuguese cinemas on 23 October 2025.
Set somewhere between the epic and the absurd, the film follows António da Luz, the "village drunkard," who, upon finding a cursed sword voiced by João Loy (Vegeta, Dragon Ball), is dragged into a journey where heroism and madness blur. Between absurd battles and moments of introspection, The Old Man and the Sword reflects with irony and tenderness on time, loss, and the persistence of the human spirit.

Trailer
From the haunted forests of Beira Baixa, a malevolent energy is born. Fearing neither God nor Man, it roams the valleys reaping the souls of those distracted by the fleeting pleasures of the moment. The only thing that separates these entities from the final apocalypse is an unlikely hero: a retired construction worker, a bottle of wine, a Zundapp 50, and a sword possessed by the spirit of a strange demon.
