‘The Composer’ wins 1st place at MOTELX 2025

"O Compositor" is a graduation short film from the Bachelor’s Degree in Cinema and Media Arts produced in 2024. Previously, it was part of the official selection, Short Film Competition – Fiction, Doc, Animation, FESTin – Itinerant Festival of Portuguese Language Cinema 2025.

The jury panel composed of Cláudia Jardim (creator and performer), Teresa Vieira (programmer, critic, and journalist), and Manuel Baptista (programmer) awarded the MOTELX Award – Best Portuguese Horror Short Film to Afonso Lucas and Rodrigo Motty (directors) for “O Compositor”: a film “where human and power relations guide the characters along paths of obsession, subjugation, and submission, where the suffering of the other fills one’s own emptiness.”
