  • Observations

    Observations

A unique offering in Portugal and Europe, and an intermediate level between a bachelor's degree and a doctorate, this master's degree in Media and Information Literacy and Digital Citizenship provides tools for: 1 - Be flexible in its approach to content, which is distributed across course units (CUs) organized in a coherent manner, in both theoretical and practical terms, reinforced by a team of teachers specialized in the areas of the proposed CUs. 2 - Be an innovative proposal in societal terms as well, since it deals with a subject that challenges us every day in this highly mediatized society. The products to be produced within the scope of the course may prove to be elements of social, cultural, and economic development. 3 - Foster the idea of the researcher who acts, starting from a solid theoretical basis, to implement concrete projects for social action/change. 4 - Affirm the cross-cutting nature of scientific areas, necessary to respond to the problems that will arise and for which solutions will be sought, especially in Communication Sciences, but also in Education Sciences. 5 - Ensure that the Curricular Units respect a holistic and complementary vision in relation to MIL, with a focus on theory and empirical dimensions in areas such as society and citizenship, public policies, creative and digital processes, citizen empowerment, critical readings, and information disorders, combined with thinking about specific methodologies in the area. 6 - Ensure that students' work is effective by monitoring them throughout the course, in particular with two CUs over three semesters. With Methodologies I, II, and III and Interactive Seminar I, II, and III, the aim is to closely monitor students so that they produce regular, intensive, high-quality work that is completed within two academic years.
