    The Master in Sound Production and Technologies is part of the evolution of the areas of sound studies in Portuguese academia, optimizing and specializing a set of skills and activities specific to sound and music professionals, or who use sound and hearing as priority elements for the recognition and creation of a reality in different material and technological media. The set of curricular units is developed on the model of new techniques and technologies for sound: virtual auditory environments, instrument techniques, composition, mixing and relations with audiovisual media. Main software used throughout the course: Avid Protools, Max-Msp and Arduino.

    Admission Conditions

    Eligible candidates for the master's degree program are: a) Holders of a bachelor's degree or an equivalent legal qualification. b) Holders of a foreign academic degree obtained following a first cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a state adhering to that process. c) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree recognized as fulfilling the objectives of a bachelor's degree by the competent statutory body. d) Individuals with an educational, scientific, or professional background recognized by the competent statutory body of CUL as demonstrating the capacity to undertake this study cycle. Selection Criteria: Candidates with a grade from their previous qualification: 25% previous qualification (Bachelor Certificate Grade) + 75% Interview and CV/portfolio assessment.     Mainly graduates in the areas of musicology and sound technologies, audiovisual direction and production and digital and performing arts, as well as professionals with an excellent curriculum in the training area of Audiovisual and Media Production.

    Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired

    Students in the Master in Sound Production and Technologies will be equipped with advanced knowledge and skills in areas as diverse as sound production for audiovisual, in immersive environments and devices that use sound as a functional and sense element. In addition to this training, the student gains skills in the area of artistic creation and the fusion of sound with different creative and entertainment media. The student is prepared to understand the technological modalities of sound composition, offering a wide range of employment possibilities in the creative industries and in sound technologies.

    The Master in Sound Production and Technologies aims to: 1. Deepen the training and scientific areas of the sense of hearing and sound production. 2. Train professionals in the areas of cinema, multimedia and sound arts. Develop the research skills and creativity of students trained in related academic areas. 3. To prepare students for the technological practices of sound composition, allowing deepening formative elements in the area of production and sound technologies, essential for the creative industries, music, entertainment and media.

    Career Opportunities

    This 2nd cycle of studies in Sound Production and Technologies focuses on advanced training that allows those who complete it to gain skills in sound production for different contents and media, traditional or in the digital domain: sound directors, sound designers, music producers, recording and mastering technicians and sound design.

    Continuation of 3rd cycle studies in Media Arts and Communication or Communication Sciences.

    Observations

    Assessment methodology: Lectures, practical laboratory classes and production of sound and audiovisual objects. The curricular units have as an evaluation methodology the creation of a partial project, in the areas of sound united to artistic production, multimedia and audiovisual.
