Film and Media Arts Department closes 2023/24 academic year
Over & Out 2024 emphasises the creativity, innovation and talent of students in various fields
25.07.24 - 14h54The Department of Cinema and Media Arts (DCAM) at Lusófona University celebrated the end of the 2023/24 academic year with another edition of the "Over & Out" event, held from July 8 to 12. This event, now established as a tradition, showcased the students' work in various public spaces across the city, highlighting the creativity, innovation, and talent of future professionals in diverse fields.
With "Madness" as the inspirational theme, the students presented a variety of creative projects, including art installations, exhibitions, film screenings, concerts, and fashion shows. The program began with the art installation "Hybrid Spaces" at Terreiro do Paço Metro Station, followed by the opening of an exhibition at Lusófona University, which was open to the public until July 11.

On July 9, Cinema Fernando Lopes hosted the screening of various projects, including FilmEU Joint Projects, animations, documentaries, and works by undergraduate and master's students. The next day, July 10, the same cinema showcased photography projects, videos, music videos, advertisements, and other cross-disciplinary works from the Cinema and Media Arts program.
Additionally, the Reshape Studio hosted an immersive electroacoustic concert, while the National Costume Museum presented the "FinalACT" fashion show.
The event continued on July 11 with a special night at Cinema São Jorge, which required prior registration. The program included screenings of digital animation films, documentaries, short films, and projects by third-year undergraduate students. The night concluded with an awards ceremony and a cocktail party that lasted until 1:30 a.m.
The last day of the event, July 12, was dedicated to the final exhibition of students from the Bachelor in Videogames and the Master's in Game Design and Playable Media, held at Lusófona University. The celebration concluded with an awards ceremony at Cinema Fernando Lopes.
Over & Out 2024 not only celebrated the students' achievements throughout the academic year but also promoted greater integration between the academic community and the public, highlighting the relevance of art and cinema in the contemporary cultural scene.
