Borba Tex Project: Grape Waste Transformed into Bio-Paste for Fashion and Design

Lusófona University is at the forefront of sustainable innovation with a project focused on creating a bio-paste from wine production waste. This solution was developed by a team of researchers and lecturers from the University, in collaboration with the Municipality of Borba and the Borba Winery. The project was presented at the III Symposium on Fashion and the Textile and Clothing Industry (ITV), organised by the University, and has already attracted interest in both national and international markets.

From 4 to 6 Dez 2024 Event
The 14th Seminar on Groundwater, organised by the Portuguese Association of Water Resources, will take place at the Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre, and marks three decades of progress in the management, preservation, and quality of groundwater. The event revisits essential topics addressed since the first seminar, held in 1993, including the current situation of water resources and the challenges posed by urbanisation, industrial expansion, and climate change. New solutions will be discussed, such as strategies for the sustainable storage and capture of groundwater, as well as initiatives aimed at environmental protection and the effective management of water resources.

As part of the dissemination of the results of the ERASMUS Project Ugly Fruits NOT!, the dissemination event (MULTIPLIER EVENT) “Presentation of digital tools to combat food waste” was held on 22nd May. The aim was to publicise the materials produced and the digital platform that can be used as a dissemination and training tool. Project
The main objective of the project is to develop an innovative framework to provide an Early Warning System and responses to land degradation threatening the EU from its external border, using multi-source and multi-scale Earth Observation data. Land degradation is the world's biggest environmental challenge affecting the environment, agriculture and human well-being. Intensified by natural disasters and desertification, land degradation can pose potential risks and socio-economic stresses at the EU border.
